Pride and Prejudice
September 10 to October 3, 2010
Comedy/Drama, General Audiences
Directed by Kelly Larson
Synopsis:

This literary classic tells the story of Mrs. Bennett's determination to get her daughters married. Jane, Elizabeth and Lydia are likely looking girls in a period when a woman's one possible career is matrimony. To be a wife was success. Anything else was failure. Jane and her Mr. Bingley and Lydia with her Mr. Wickham are quite content with things as they are, but not Elizabeth! She actually refuses to marry Mr. Collins, whom she openly deplores, and Mr. Darcy, whom she secretly adores. The play is the story of the duel between Elizabeth and her pride and Darcy and his prejudice. Each gives in before the evening is over and pride and prejudice meet halfway.

King Island Christmas
November 26 to December 19, 2010
Oratorio, Family Audiences
Directed by Jennifer Dalby
Synopsis:

A heartwarming oratorio about the power of community and the ability of the human spirit to overcome adversity. The North Star freighter, carrying Father Carroll, is anchored in the Bering Sea of Alaska on Christmas Eve, on its last arctic voyage before the winter ice closes in around King Island. The waves are too high for the villagers to go out and fetch him in their walrus skin boats; without him, there will be no Christmas celebration. In a communal effort, the villagers triumphantly carry their oomiak over a mountain to the calmer waters of the lee, and bring Father Carroll ashore. Christmas is celebrated on King Island.

Nunsense II - The Second Coming
January 7 to January 30, 2011
Musical Comedy, General Audiences
Directed by Garry Forrester
Synopsis:

This wonderful musical could easily be subtitled "the rest of the story." The sequel to the international hit musical NUNSENSE takes place approximately six weeks after the first "benefit performance."   The same five nuns are back on stage at Mt. Saint Helen's School for what is billed as a "Thank You Program" for their supporters. Since their first time out was such a success, they have decided that they should stick to their successful variety show formula. This time they are forced to work around the set dressing of "The Mikado" which is being presented the following week by the Hoboken Music Society on the Mt. Saint Helen's stage.  The show opens with the musical production number Nunsense: The Magic Word. The song is followed by a high-speed recapitulation of what happened at the first show, narrated by Sister Mary Hubert and acted out silent-film-style by Sisters Robert Anne, Mary Paul (Amnesia) and Leo.  Then the telephone rings. Sister Leo answers only to discover that the Franciscans are on their way to the convent to claim Sister Mary Paul as one of their own!  Reverend Mother dispatches Sister Robert Anne to the convent to try to reason with the Franciscans while the other Sisters try to calm Sister Mary Paul. Reverend Mother continues center stage with stories from her days in the circus. The others follow Reverend Mother with The Padre Polka calling for women priests.  Then without warning, a birdhouse, which is part of "The Mikado" set, falls on Sister Mary Paul's head and jogs her memory. The "Franciscans" are none other than the Health Inspector and his assistant (the sisters' nemesis in the first show) trying to steal the prize money by masquerading as monks. Realizing that Sister Mary Paul and the money are safe, the sisters give thanks with the rousing gospel finale There's Only One Way to End Your Prayers, and that's to say, “Amen!”

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
February 18 to March 6, 2011
Drama, Mature Audiences
Directed by Kevin Cochran
Synopsis:

The story of a charming rogue who contrives to serve a short sentence in an airy mental institution rather in a prison comes to life on stage. Once our rogue arrives at the mental hospital, he quickly learns it was a mistake. He clashes with the head nurse, a fierce martinet.  Quickly, he takes over the yard and accomplishes what the medical profession has been unable to do for twelve years; he makes a presumed deaf and dumb Indian talk. He leads others out of introversion, stages a revolt so that they can see the World Series on television, and arranges a rollicking midnight party with liquor and chippies. For one offense, the head nurse has him submit to shock treatment. The party is too horrid for her and she forces him to submit to a final correction - a frontal lobotomy.

A Little Princess
March 25 to April 17, 2011
Drama, Family Audiences
Directed by Jackie Johnson
Synopsis:

Sara Crewe, heiress to a large fortune, is enrolled at Miss Minchin's Select Seminary for Young Ladies in Victorian England. At first her life is happy, but news arrives that her father has died and her fortune is lost. Sara is forced to become a servant, scrubbing cobblestones and washing cooking kettles. She must live in a miserable attic room that seems no better than a prison cell. When a mysterious gentleman from India takes the house next door, some strange and curious things begin to happen. In time, Sara even discovers that her fortune has been retrieved. The enchanting story is filled with fascinating characters, both good and bad: greedy Miss Minchin and her timid sister, Amelia; Becky, the kitchen slave; snooty and jealous Lavinia; and Ermengarde, who hates to read and can't spell. There's even a Hindu servant named Ram Dass, whose monkey is always up to mischief. You'll never forget Sara's birthday scene, nor the odd tea party she conducts in the cold attic. This show is filled with comedy, drama and, most of all, charm. When things turn out splendidly for our clever Sara, it's no wonder she feels just like a little princess.
